The CIBLES (Lower Laurentian
International Crossroads for Social Involvement) works for
a better comprehension of international political and
economical issues. Using tools such as training, awareness
campaigns, and direct intervention, we are trying to
involve citizens of the Bas St-Laurent in the social
choices they are facing.
Our activities call on individuals to make a social
commitment, i.e. :
"... be aware of
our role in society and today's times, and, therefore,
refuse to be a simple spectator, by putting our talents
and ideas at the service of an ideal or a cause".
Engagement, Petit Robert, 1993, Page
763.

CIBLES's privileged field of action is that
of international relations. |
Our
first goal is to help citizens demystify international phenomena,
such as globalisation, and also to create a connection between the
citizens of our region and those of the rest of the planet. We
achieve this by facilitating intercultural exchanges, with work
projects, humanitarian cooperation missions , training and by
building bridges between partners in different fields.
To pursue this goal, we particularly need to
raise the younger generation's awareness as to the role they have
to play in the Bas St-Laurent's successful internationalisation.
This is why we are seeking partnerships with academic institutions
to help us organise special projects, like Project FSM 2004, which
was done in collaboration with the Cégep de Rimouski. |
Creating links and organizing
projects on the international level to facilitate youth's
social involvement and raise their awareness to the
different aspects of globalisation; |
Help the territory's population to become
aware of the importance of opening up to the world and the
importance of cultural exchanges;
Initiate humanitarian missions and
international co-operation projects;
Collaborate and participate in these
missions and co-operations projects;
Facilitate equal access to international
projects for the population of the Bas St-Laurent, without
regards to its distance from major urban centres;
Reinforce the capacity for action,
intervention and co-operation of the Bas St-Laurent on the
international scale;
Create partnerships with other
non-governmental organisations working in Canada and in the
rest of the world;
Offer punctual training based on
political, social and economical issues by using an
international perspective;
Organise events, conferences and
symposiums to raise public awareness on international
issues;
Act as a consultant, observer or manager
of international projects;
Participate in governmental projects that
can help us achieve our goals.
